Cooloo
Team
Cooloo develops and makes circular furniture, sustainable interior projects and materials for construction, made from residual materials such as leather, cork, jeans or stone.
About the Makers
During years of managing a furniture factory, Leo Schraven saw that furniture was made very classically and inefficiently. He realized that this had to change in the future and started developing new techniques and materials for this and other industries. Schraven found assistance in this from sustainability advocate Ricco Fiorito. Together they took up the challenge to develop the technology and materials of the future with Cooloo. With this, Cooloo wants to contribute to the transition to a circular economy where pollution and waste are minimized.
Production Process
Furniture making and upholstery are beautiful crafts with a long history. Unfortunately, they are complex and generate large amounts of waste. That is why Cooloo developed Endless LifeĀ®; this application technology turns local waste materials into visible and tangible surfaces of any shape or size. The technology and materials are suitable for making furniture, walls, floors, ceilings and objects for indoor and outdoor use. For example, recycled mattresses are ground and shaped into furniture shapes. These shapes are then covered with a sprayed material based on residual flows and ecological binders using Endless Life technology.
Sustainability
The materials and production technology are very sustainable because they are made quickly, effectively and energy-efficiently. In addition, they have been developed for the circular economy based on different R strategies: repair, refurbishment, remanufacturing and recycling are seamlessly combined. This leads to fewer CO2 emissions and circularity of up to 96%.
