About the Makers
Owners Birgitte and Jacqueline both love vintage things and have visited many flea markets, thrift stores and junk shops in their lives. “But if you like old things, it is also useful if you can repair them yourself. So, although we each have our own background in finance and HR, we decided to follow the furniture upholstery course in 2020. This is where we came each other, there was a click.” After completing the training, they started Refurnished by.
The production process & sustainability
Birgitte and Jacqueline often collect the discarded seating furniture that is used as a base from people’s homes. Once in their studio, they remove the broken fabric and non-reusable interior. If necessary, the wood or tubular frame is renovated. The interior is constructed as much as possible with reusable material and reupholstery is done with coupon fabrics. The seating furniture will then be like new again and will be offered in the webshop! This means that this seating furniture will last extra long.
