Saucy Dan’s is on a mission to make everyone’s next bite, a delicious one! They use fermentation to transform locally grown ingredients into hot sauce and spicy honey.

About the Maker
The unique flavors of the sauces & honey are inspired by Dan’s unique background as a Half Dutch, Half Pakistani, American-raised foodie, who has made Amsterdam his home for the last 8 years. In 2021, Dan turned his obsession with food and cooking into an experimental sauce project. Nowadays, he creates his sauces from ingredients that are more than 90% Dutch, and he’s constantly looking for ways to make his supply chain more sustainable and local. Saucy Dan’s is spreading the word that your food can always be more vibrant and flavorful, with a little help from some sauce or spicy honey!

Production Process
The production process is made up of two steps, both crucial for smooth fermentation and flavor development. The first is to create a lacto-fermentation brine where the chilis are placed for at least 2 weeks. Second, the chilis are blended together with various flavors such as apple & white miso for the Kashmiri Kick sauce, or fresh pineapple and coffee for the Daamn Daniel sauce. Then, the bottles are filled individually by hand and the labels are added. This all happens in Amsterdam West.

Sustainability
Saucy Dan’s sauces are handmade with locally sourced ingredients, including spicy chili peppers, fruits and honey. They also recycle and re-use their glass bottles and strive to reduce any foodwaste by creating one-off products such as the “The Ex” sauce program. Finally, the sauces are directly delivered to local retailers using zero-emission transport (bike or e-bike) or sold directly to consumers via markets or the webshop.
