Suus Handmade is a workshop that makes small-scale, sustainable children’s clothing by hand. Everything you find in the webshop is recycled from pre-loved clothing, making every item unique.
About the Maker
The birth of Sofie’s eldest daughter also started her search for sustainable children’s clothing. Since she had been behind the sewing machine from an early age, Sofie has started to combine these two things. She made new children’s clothing from pre-loved clothing and textiles; ultimately leading to the creation of the Suus Handmade studio. With a lot of attention and love, Sofie now makes her collection of sustainable children’s clothing on a small scale.
Production Process & Sustainability
Only pre-loved textiles are used to make the clothing. Shirts are transformed into dresses and salopettes, towels become bibs and woolen blankets become body warmers. The textiles are handed in to Sofie or she finds beautiful fabrics at thrift stores. Then everything is washed. Sofie takes care of everything in the process herself, from cutting to the patterns, sewing and shipping.

You are welcome to visit Suus Handmade’s studio (Hof 4 in Dordrecht). This is possible every Friday from 12:00 PM to 4:30 PM and Saturday from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, with the exception of school holidays. Keep an eye on Suus Handmade’s Instagram account for updated information.
