About the Maker
From a young age, Naomi had a passion for textiles, spending countless hours behind her sewing machine. It was no surprise that she went on to study Technical Textile Science. After graduating, she worked at Enschede Textielstad, a sustainable, industrial weaving mill specializing in fashion and upholstery fabrics made exclusively from local or recycled materials. After moving and changing jobs, she started missing working with textiles—so she dusted off her sewing machine.
“My sofa needed a pop of color, so I decided to make new cushion covers. The overwhelming positive reactions gave me the courage to take the leap, and I officially registered INKED! with the Chamber of Commerce!”
Production Process & Sustainability
Naomi carefully selects high-quality leftover fabrics from local upholsterers and textile suppliers, including haberdashery, fabrics, and cushion fillings. She first crafts the cushions, and any leftover fabric scraps are saved to create various small products. The inner cushions are made from 75% recycled down and feathers. The labels are biodegradable, composed of latex and cellulose. For all printing and shipping materials, Naomi either reuses resources or opts for responsible and recycled alternatives.
