From refined essentials to sculptural statement pieces — Nicoline van Boven creates handmade jewellery and bespoke pieces that translate memories, identity and emotion into wearable art.

About the maker
During her art studies in Bruges, Nicoline discovered jewellery design at an open day at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. “I was immediately sold: this was where my love of fine art, fashion and design came together.” Born and raised in Zeeland, she draws her inspiration from nature, the sea and the rhythms and structures she finds there.

Production process & sustainability
Nicoline does almost everything herself in her studio in Kapelle, Zeeland. “I design, melt, roll and make everything by hand.” Only the stone setting and engraving are outsourced to specialist craftspeople in the Netherlands. The gold comes from Dutch companies affiliated with the Convenant Verantwoord Goud (Responsible Gold Covenant). She often works with customers’ old gold as well, giving it a new purpose.

Personal bespoke jewellery
Alongside her own collection, Nicoline creates custom jewellery such as wedding rings, engagement rings and memorial pieces. A story, a memory or an important moment is the starting point. Together with the client, she looks for the form, materials and details that give the piece its meaning. “The result is a personal piece of jewellery to wear, to cherish and to pass on.”
