Frites uit Zuyd is one of Amsterdam Made’s sponsors and thus helps the smaller makers from the region, who are now where Frites uit Zuyd once started.
“Makers are creative people with courage and perseverance. They make innovative, distinctive and appealing products and thus add color to the city. They deserve a network and a platform and that is what Amsterdam Made offers. Frites from Zuyd is happy to contribute to this.”
Frites from Zuyd makes real, fresh fries from Dutch potatoes. Quirin van Engelshoven opened his fries shop Frites from Zuyd on the Amsterdam Ceintuurbaan in 2014. Restaurants in the area asked for the fresh pre-fried fries immediately after the opening. Quirin therefore decided in 2015 to focus entirely on preparing fries for the catering industry and started a traditional fries factory. Nowadays, as a family business, Frites uit Zuyd stands for innovation and sustainability, without losing its focus on quality and taste. The real fresh fries are now also for sale in the supermarket, so that everyone can enjoy them at home!
Frites from Zuyd loves innovation. That is why they moved to a spacious, new production location in Almere in 2022. Here the production process could be largely automated and made more sustainable. Despite all this innovation and automation, Frites uit Zuyd continues to stick to the traditional preparation method and taste and quality are still carefully monitored.
The best tips for starting makers from Quirin van Engelshoven: “Believe in your product and believe in yourself. Make sure you are fit and persevere. Surround yourself with the right people who can assist you with advice and assistance. It takes trial and error, but with assurance, perseverance, courage and creative thinking you can make progress.”
Frites uit Zuyd’s motto: “We symbolise real fresh fries. For real quality, real taste and real service!”
