Frederike Top

Frederike Top is a product designer from Amsterdam, specialized in lighting, furniture and interior accessories. She works for both private individuals and companies such as Rabobank and Nationale Nederlanden. Her designs invite interaction and often reveal surprising elements during use, which gives her work an extra dimension.

About the Maker
After graduating from HKU, Frederike founded her own design agency, inspired by the interest that labels showed in her lighting during her graduation phase. “It was the final push to start independently,” she says. Although she still focuses on lighting, she now also creates furniture and collaborates with various companies and museums.

Production Process
Frederike works with major labels for mass production as well as independently for small, custom-made series. The nice thing about small production is that she has more control and can work flexibly. Her passion for combining materials and innovative techniques is reflected in products such as the Kaleidoscope lamp, which creates reflections and patterns through coated stainless steel.

Sustainability
Frederike strives to make her designs as sustainable as possible. She often uses recyclable materials and gives new value to parts through reuse. Its products are designed to have a long lifespan, with attention to quality and craftsmanship.
