NOVÈMBRE is a creative studio for conscious art direction & styling and handmade products, based in Amsterdam. NOVÈMBRE’s baskets and bags are made from natural, recycled and conscious materials, through ethical production and craftsmanship.
About the Maker
Through her work as an art director and stylist for various magazines and brands, founder Tamara Botter encountered constantly changing trends. Tamara founded NOVÈMBRE as a counterpart to the fast fashion chains that dominate. With NOVÈMBRE she designs unique, completely sustainable products, made from natural, recycled fabrics. Timeless bags and baskets made of velvet, willow and bamboo handles, inspired by Paris, the 70’s and Jane Birkin. Her mission is to inspire conscious consumption through brand and material choices in styling and product development.
Production Process & Sustainability
The ethical bags are made locally and by hand in NOVÈMBRE’s partner workshop: Atelier Made Here, by tailors with a refugee background. Tamara searches and curates the fabrics herself. All velour bags are made from vintage curtains and leftover remnants from fabric wholesalers. The fabrics are steamed or washed and taken to the studio, where the bags are sewn by hand. The baskets are made from cultivated willow branches, which are woven. The bags are produced in limited editions and are therefore unique and extra durable. By reinventing (old) craft through ethical and local production, Tamara wants to make a difference in the overconsumption in the fashion industry.
