The Culimayo by The Mayo Sisters is 100% plant based, sugar-free and made with pure and natural ingredients. They are gluten-free and lactose-free and contain no added colorings or flavorings. Yet, they still maintain the taste and texture of a real French mayonnaise; creamy and with a hint of sourness.

About the Makers
The Hissink Sisters – Helen and Martine – grew up in a nice, warm Amsterdam family with a culture of caring for each other. Making delicious, healthy food every day was part of that. Out of this love for good food grew Chefs & Co in 2014, an old-fashioned food shop where people could pick up traditional dishes or have them delivered. Grilled chicken, homemade applesauce, hand-cut fries and of course the sauce that goes with it: real mayonnaise! People came back and kept coming back for that deliciously creamy mayonnaise with a hint of sourness. Which they also brought back for others. This inspired the sisters to continue doing what they love. In 2016, the idea arose to make their mayonnaise in consumer packaging under the name The Mayo Sisters. In 2020 they finally launched the plant-based and sugar-free variant at the Horecava in Amsterdam.

Production Process & Sustainability
In their search for a reliable producer who wanted to think and act from a traditional situation, Helen and Martine ended up with the right producer. “Scalability, certification, food safety and network are important if you want to become a brand that can make a difference on the shelf,” says Helen. The mayo from The Mayo Sisters is also more sustainable than other mayonnaises because no eggs are used.

Development
The sisters have not had a moment to sit still in recent years. The store has been sold, they have found a business partner who specializes in Foodservice & Retail and together they have now developed seven flavours of mayo. In addition, the sisters launched a family cookbook in November 2021 with more than 40 vegetarian/vegan recipes, anecdotes and stories. Order it here!
