Tudy’s Kitchen is an Amsterdam based ice cream brand; black-owned and run by a team of inspiring women. Their handmade ice cream has surprising flavors, such as ice cream with crispy fried chicken skin and waffles and ice cream with balsamic roasted blueberry and honey goat cheese.
About the maker
In 2021, owner Nekeia founded Tudy’s Kitchen. “I noticed that many people in the Netherlands are open to new and innovative ice cream flavors.” She is influenced by Amsterdam and travel, but especially by New York, where she grew up and was inspired by her grandmother Tudy. She was and still is the greatest source of inspiration for Tudy’s Kitchen. “Her kitchen was the place to be and she cooked with instinct, while freestyling with ingredients.” Nekeia’s first love was ice cream, that’s why this is the core product of Tudy’s Kitchen.
The production process
Nekeia uses the same approach as her grandmother Tudy to come up with the ice cream flavors; instinctively and trusting her taste. She starts by experimenting with different blends and mixes, which ultimately results in consistent recipes. All Tudy’s Kitchen ice cream is handmade from fresh and local ingredients and packaged in sustainable materials.
Giving back
Nekeia also wants to contribute to the community with her company. She is currently working hard to launch the Naomi Fund, to help underrepresented groups such as women, LBGTQ+, and the larger BIPOC communities build their own brand.
