Preciosa is one of Amsterdam Made’s sponsors and thus helps the smaller makers from the region, who are now where Preciosa once started.

Preciosa is the Dutch vintage eyewear brand. It is the main brand of Frame Holland; the last remaining glasses factory in the Netherlands. The first glasses were made as early as 1936. From 2000 onwards, a complete vintage acetate collection of Dutch glasses was constructed, inspired by the rich tradition of the brand. The total Preciosa collection consists of approximately 30 models in 40 colours, most of them completely made of plastic and also a number of metal and combined models.
The Preciosa collection is designed, developed and produced in the factory in Burgerveen. The crucial phases of the production process are still manual. This applies to the manufacturing and assembling of the parts, the polishing of the acetate glasses, the final inspection and the polishing of the glasses before they go into the case.
The best tip for starting makers from co-owner Menno: “Follow your own path and don’t be driven crazy by day-to-day issues! We do the things that make us happy. Most makers do their work out of passion and love for the craft. That is a different motivation than if you just want to reach good numbers.”
Preciosa’s motto: “If it can’t be done the way it should be, then it should be done the way it can be done. This has been said in the factory for years. We always try to find a solution.”
